Rishi Kapoor, the son of showman Raj Kapoor and one of the successful romantic actors of the 70s and 80s had provided elegant lips in huge of number successful films during that period. He had a strong combination with Rafi, Shailendra Singh, Kishore Kumar and other singers of that period.

The songs in his first films as a hero, that is Bobby, is worth mentioning. The songs were composed by LP and most sung by Shailendra Singh. The notable songs include “mai shayar to nahi”, “hum tum ek kamre me bandh ho”, etc.

The songs in his film Laila Majnu, composed by Madan Mohan and Jaidev and sung by Rafi including “tere dar pe aya hoon”, “barbad muhabbat ki dua saath liye ja”, were all hits. The songs had the appeal of middle-east folk tunes. Similarly the songs in the film Khel Khel Me, composed by RD Burman became very successful. The songs including “humen tumko dekha”, “ek mai aur ek tu” became big hit in the early 70s.

The songs in the film Kabhi Kabhi, composed by Khayyam were also successful. Although Big B and Rakhee, performed the main roles, Rishi Kapoor’s songs performance opposite Nitu Singh was well appreciated. Their songs were also successful.

The songs in the film Amar Akbar Anthony, composed by LP, and sung by Rafi, were also successful. The qawalli “parda hai parda”, and the bhajan “shirdiwali saibaba” became landmark hit during 1977.

Also Rishi Kapoor’s Sargam had very successful music composed by LP. The songs like “dafliwale dafli baja”, “ramjiki nikli sawari”, “koel boli” sung by Rafi and Lata became landmark hit. Rishi Kapoor balanced the successful choreography of Jaya Prada with his strong lips in the film.

All the songs should be restored and preserved for their immense musical value.
