Abhishek Bacchan, Bipasha Basu in Players Abbas Mustan’s crime thriller film Players that had been released on 6th January will do moderate business. Pritam had composed the music of the film. The film was made with a budget of 45 crores. The main roles were given to Abhishek Bacchan, Sonam Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Vinod Khanna. There were supporting roles played by Bobby Deol, Omi Vaidya, Johnny Lever and Sikander Kher. The film had been related to theft of gold from a train in Russia. The hackers, the magicians and others’ help was required. Everyone contributed in the operation. But Neil Nitin Mukesh betrayed. He killed Bobby Deol. Bipasha Basu pretended to have been shot by Neil Nitin Mukesh, but later colluded with him. At the end Abhishek Bacchan identified them in New Zealand with the help of Sonam Kapoor, Sikander Kher and Omi Vaidya. Johnny Lever, a car maker helped them for getting cars made of different materials. Sonam Kapoor killed Neil Nitin Mukesh at the end of the film. The music of Pritam in the film had not been impressive. Excepting the song “dil yeh bekarar kyun hai” sung by Mohit Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal, none of the other songs impressed the viewers. Vinod Khanna lost weight, yet impressed with his performance. Bipasha Basu and Abhishek Bachhan did well. But Sonam Kapoor did not rise up to the occasion to match the stylish character. Abbas Mustan had given super hit films in the past like Soldier and Ajnabee with Bobby Deol. It was very surprising that this time he had underused Bobby Deol. Bobby Deol had always given quality performances in stylish roles. The other factor was that the operation was too technical. There are chances of the film doing well oversees. But the Indian audience had not adjusted themselves to too technical subject matter. The plot was good and the execution very stylish. Even after the great effort the film is likely to do moderate business.

The film Yamla Pagla Diwana had got a very good opening. Dharmender and Sunny Deol had a brilliant box-office presence in bollywood films for the last 50 years. So any film where both appeared together is destined to do well. The film had been directed by Samir Karnik. The title of the film was inspired from the 1975 Dharmender’s film Pratigya’s landmark song. The song was titled “mai jaat yamla pagla diwana” which was sung by legendary singer Mohammad Rafi, where Rafi had almost imitated the dialogue delivery style of Dharmender.

This is another film where the entire Deol family had acted together after Apne. Dharmender, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol had acted in the film. The film had been released on 14th January, 2011. Sunny Deol played the role of an NRI family person who lived in Vancouver, Canada. He stayed there with his mother played by Nafisa Ali and wife.

He missed his father played by Dharmender and brother played by Bobby Deol, who were segregated because Dharmender lived the life of a criminal. Sunny Deol went to India to bring back his younger brother, as his mother was too attached with the child and wanted to see him. Sunny Deol came to Varanasi, and was cheated in a Money Exchange Office. When he saved Dharmender and Bobby Deol from a group of gangsters who attacked them due to cheating, both his father and brother came close to him.

Bobby Deol had an affair with Kulraj Randhawa. But her elder brother Anupam Kher wanted to get her married to an NRI. But he was interested to marry his sister to Sunny Deol, not Bobby Deol. In the meantime Anupam Kher contested election from a constituency in Punjab. Due to the mess relating to marriage of her sister, Sunny Deol’s wife came all the way from Canada. At the end the chaos was sorted out and Bobby Deol got married to the sister of Anupam Kher. Sunny kept his promise and took the entire family back to Canada.

The performances of the most of the artists in the film was excellent including Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Nafisa Ali, Dharmender, Anupam Kher and others. The comedy timing of most of the performers were excellent and the director requires credit for utilizing the talents of the actors and actresses.

In the film Bobby Deol played the role of a successful horror film director of bollywood who married Mugdha Godse. They had marital problems. Both of them rushed to Mauritius to see the sick father of Mugdha Godse.

The house in Mauritius where Mugdha Godse grew up had a lot of mystery embedded in them. Neither Bobby Deol knew anything about it nor did Mugdha Godse know about it. There was a spirit in the house which wanted to expose itself and strike Bobby Deol and Mugdha Godse. The film was about the challenge faced by the couple and the way they could combat it.

Other performers like Sophia Handa and Shreyas Talpade did well in the film. Bobby Deol and Mugdha Godse were brilliant in their respective roles. The music had been composed by Ashutosh Pathak. Although music did not play an important role in the film, the music was fair.

The scenic beauty of Mauritius is another bonus for the viewers. The film had a moderate budget and can expect moderate response from the viewers. It is an interesting film to watch.

Besides, the directors and producers of the late 90s experimented with different types of roles with Kajol. She played the role of a villain in the film Gupt opposite Bobby Deol. Being the son of Dharmender and brother of Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol required some special skills to create his identity and look different to the viewers. He showed his stylish accent in the film Gupt which was a murder mystery. Bobby Deol was alleged to have killed his father Raj Babbar and was sent to jail. He escaped from the jail with the help of Manisha Koirala and proved himself innocent.

He matched the villainish performance of Kajol in the film and balanced the performances of a series of villains in the film including Prem Chopra, Raza Murad, etc. Om Puri was sublime in the role of a police inspector and Bobby Deol showed his personality when both of them met each other. He even gave good lips in the songs composed by Viju Shah like “bechaniya”, “gupt, gupt”, etc.

Producers started casting Bobby Deol in stylish roles especially in action pact films like Soldier. He did very well opposite Preeti Zinta. Most of the film was shot in Australia and Bobby Deol proved himself both as a romantic actor and also action. All the songs of the film were hit including “soldier, soldier”, “mehfil me ekbaar”, etc. His action stunts opposite Suresh Oberoi was ably appreciated by the viewers.

After few years Bobby Deol changed his hair style but continued to act in action films like Badal and Bicchu. In both these films his heroine was Rani Mukherjee who added attraction in the films. Bobby Deol brought out the vengeance in the character of terrorists especially in the film Badal. But someway or the other due to strong domination of Shahrukh Khan mainly in romantic films, Bobby Deol’s films did mediocre business and he did not get the recognition he deserved.

Even in suspense thrillers like Ajnabee, Bobby Deol balanced the villanish performance of Akshay Kumar and individual performances of Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu. The film had many twists and turns and Bobby Deol ultimately took revenge against Akshay Kumar for planting a false case against him.

Bobby Deol even did well in the film Aur Pyar Ho Gaya opposite Aishwarya Rai. His films Jhoom Barabar Jhoom did not do that well in 2007, but his film Heroes in 2008 did good business.

In 2009, his film Ek, The Power of One did moderate business. He had shown excellence in action films, but for the last few years action films did not do great business. With strong competition from Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Amir Khan and the new heroes Bobby Deol has to do something exceptional to maintain his stardom.

Even last year her performance in the film The Heroes opposite Salman Khan was appreciated by the viewers. She was very successful in the film Barsaat opposite Bobby Deol. Bobby Deol started his career with that film and it was produced by Dharmender. The music was impressive. Twinkle Khanna expressed her romantic feelings very well in the film. With the success of the film in the early 90s, Twinkle Khanna became a readymade choice for any type of film.

She acted with Shahrukh Khan in the film Badshah. Just like other films of Shahrukh Khan the film was based on fantasy and funny acts. Twinkle Khanna played her part very well in the film. The song “humto diwane hue yaar” became superhit. Twinkle Khanna also acted in the comedy film Joru Ka Ghulam with Govinda. Probably Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai with Salman Khan was the most successful film of her career. The film was shot in UK, Switzerland and other European Countries. All the songs of the film were super hit including “o jana”, “is dil me kya hai”, “pehli pehli baar”, etc. In the film the love of Salman Khan for her reformed Salman Khan’s character, who was a playboy before that. Twinkle Khan looked gorgeous in the film.

Twinkle Khan in a number of films opposite Ajay Devgan also in the late 90s. She had acting in her blood, as her mother Dimple Kapadia is considered one of the greatest actresses of bollywood films with landmark performances in films like Lekin, Prahar, Krantiveer, Sagar, Rudali, to name a few. Besides her father Rajesh Khanna was a superstar of the 70s.

When Twinkle Khanna looked like dethroning Juhi Chawla, Preeti Zinta or Kajol in bollywood films, she married Akshay Kumar and ended her career. She must have been a proud wife as Akshay Kumar had proved himself to be the greatest entertainer of 2007 and 2008, with majority of his films becoming blockbusters.
