Players will do moderate business.
Abhishek Bacchan, Bipasha Basu in Players
Abbas Mustan’s crime thriller film Players that had been released on 6th January will do moderate business. Pritam had composed the music of the film. The film was made with a budget of 45 crores.
The main roles were given to Abhishek Bacchan, Sonam Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Vinod Khanna. There were supporting roles played by Bobby Deol, Omi Vaidya, Johnny Lever and Sikander Kher. The film had been related to theft of gold from a train in Russia. The hackers, the magicians and others’ help was required.
Everyone contributed in the operation. But Neil Nitin Mukesh betrayed. He killed Bobby Deol. Bipasha Basu pretended to have been shot by Neil Nitin Mukesh, but later colluded with him. At the end Abhishek Bacchan identified them in New Zealand with the help of Sonam Kapoor, Sikander Kher and Omi Vaidya. Johnny Lever, a car maker helped them for getting cars made of different materials. Sonam Kapoor killed Neil Nitin Mukesh at the end of the film.
The music of Pritam in the film had not been impressive. Excepting the song “dil yeh bekarar kyun hai” sung by Mohit Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal, none of the other songs impressed the viewers. Vinod Khanna lost weight, yet impressed with his performance. Bipasha Basu and Abhishek Bachhan did well. But Sonam Kapoor did not rise up to the occasion to match the stylish character.
Abbas Mustan had given super hit films in the past like Soldier and Ajnabee with Bobby Deol. It was very surprising that this time he had underused Bobby Deol. Bobby Deol had always given quality performances in stylish roles. The other factor was that the operation was too technical. There are chances of the film doing well oversees. But the Indian audience had not adjusted themselves to too technical subject matter. The plot was good and the execution very stylish. Even after the great effort the film is likely to do moderate business.

Sonam Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor rocked Zee TV Saregamapa Little Champs Program.

Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor.
Sonam Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor rocked Zee Saregamapa Little Champs Program.
Actor Shahid Kapoor, the son of actor Pankaj Kapoor, and Sonam Kapoor, the daughter of superstar Anil Kapoor, had rocked Saregamapa Little Champs Program on 9th September, 2011. Both of them came for the promotion of their new film Mausam, which is going to be released in September only. Very significantly the film had been directed by Pankaj Kapoor.
Shahid Kapoor said very valuable things, that if he could achieve even 5% of what Pankaj Kapoor had achieved as an actor, he would feel privileged. While Shahid Kapoor talked about the serious effort given in the film, Sonam Kapoor, said she also had a great experience of working with Pankaj Kapoor.
Zee Saregamapa Little Champs provided a surprise by showing clipping of Javed Ali’s singing at the age of 11 years. Javed Ali’s father and mother came in the program and glorified the program. His mother said that Javed Ali did not even have the money to have tiffin in school, but continued his classical riyaz for which he had reached the destination, being a celebrity. Rimsha Deb sang a song from film Saawariya and also sang the song “saas gaali dewe” from the film Dilli 6, which was composed by AR Rehman and sung by Rekha Bhardwaj. Rimsha Deb’s father danced in the crowd in a typical manner and Shahid Kapoor called him up to dance in the floor.
Niladri Chatterjee sang the song “na hai jo paana” from the film Jab We Met, which was composed by Pritam and sung by Mohit Chauhan. Alka Yagnik told him that he did a “dudanto” job, meaning excellent singing in the Bengali language. Azmat Hussain sang the song “nagara nagara nagara baja” from the film Jab We Met which was originally sung by Javed Ali. Shahid Kapoor showed some brilliant steps to the child participants which he did in those songs.
Nitin Kumar and Salman Ali sang their songs excellently. At the end Nitin Kumar was eliminated but Alka Yagnik used her veto power to call him back and retain him. Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, spoke very well in the program.

I Hate Luv Stories will do decent business.

I Hate Luv Storys will do decent business.
Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor paired together for the first time in the film I Hate Luv Storys. The film had been directed by Punit Malhotra and produced by C Ashwini Dutt and Karan Johar. Imran Khan had not shown any spark after his super hit debut in the film Jaane Tu Ya Jane Na. Sonam Kapoor had been longing for a successful film from a long time. Neither Sawaariya, nor Dilli 6 would have made her a super star. In that respect this film had a lot of importance in the career of Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor.
Sonam Kapoor in the film loved love stories. He was engaged with Sameer Dattani. But assistant director Imran Khan changed her life. He hated love stories. According to him having an affair is a kind of sickness which people have.
When Sonam Kapoor was employed as an art director in the set of a film where Imran Khan was the assistant director she hated Imran Khan. A number of other stories came into being and Sonam Kapoor awakened from her dream. The film revolved around the debate relating to loving love stories and hating love stories.
The music was composed by Vishal Shekhar. Some songs became popular namely “jab mila tu” sung by Vishal Dadlani, “bahaara bahaara” sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Sona Mahapatra. But the film was slow in certain respects.
Even then, the soothing performance of Sonam Kapoor, Imran Khan and the character artists like Anju Mahendra had a charming effect on the audience. The film had already earned Rs 22 crores. In the days to come it will do even better business.
The film is destined to do decent business.

Deepika Padukone versus Sonam Kapoor.

Deepika Padukone versus Sonam Kapoor.
The viewers of bollywood films wonder between Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor, who has the greater prospect. The general comparison between the two star arises because they started their film career almost at the same time. In 2007 Sonam Kapoor acted in her first film Saawariya opposite Ranbir Kapoor, while Deepika Padukone stormed bollywood with her first film Om Shanti Om opposite Shahrukh Khan.
At the same time both Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone were daughters of celebrities. Sonam Kapoor will always face comparison with her father Anil Kapoor who was superstar of the 80s. Although Deepika Padukone’s father Prakash Padukone was a star in a different field, that is badminton, she will have the challenge of matching her father in name, fame and popularity.
Regarding the beginning of their career, Deepika Padukone had a dream start, as her first film ended up being a blockbuster. But to what extent it happened due to the individual performance of Deepika Padukone was a big question. Shahrukh Khan’s double role, Arjun Rampal’s performance in a negative role, the brilliant songs like “tumko paya hai” sung by Sonu Nigam and other songs like “aankhon me teri”, was the backbone of the success of the film. Besides, the title song “om shanty om” had huge number of stars like Dharmender, Jeetender and Kajol, Lara Dutta, Preity Zinta, etc., performing together. Even the song “dheem tana nana” had actors of the 60s and 70s like Sunil Dutt, Rajesh Khanna, Jeetender, superimposed with the sequence of Deepika’s dance number.
On the other hand Sonam Kapoor’s beginning in Sawaariya was not that eventful. It was a film of Sanjay Leela Banshali and along with Ranbir Kapoor, established performers like Salman Kan and Rani Mukherjee acted in the film along with the new pair. In that count, Deepika Padukone started with a greater popularity than Sonam Kapoor.
But in the last two years, while Deepika’s later films had mixed results, Sonam Kapoor’s other film got both success and critical acclamation. Deepika’s film Bacchna Aye Haseeno with Ranbir Kapoor became hit, but her other film Chandni Chowk to China with Akshay Kumar did mediocre business.
Sonam Kapoor’s film Dilli 6, released this year, had story, powerful performance from different actors and actresses like Abhishek Bacchan, Rishi Kapoor, Wahida Rehman, Om Puri, etc., and also powerful music. Viewers realized that whenever good scripts were given to Sonam Kapoor, she showed her potentials.
The real test of the two actresses lies from here onwards. Both had become familiar faces in bollywood films. They have to compete with new stars like Kangana Ranaut, Asin and also established stars like Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor, etc. The viewers expect both of them to do well and bring innovation in the bollywood industry with their performances.

Sonam Kapoor has a bright future in bollywood films.

Sonam Kapur has a bright future in bollywood films.
Sonam Kapoor, the daughter of superstar Anil Kapoor, has very strong future in bollywood films. It has been seen in the past that the moment any of the actors or actresses launch their sons or daughters in bollywood films, the face strong criticism and due to comparison with their successful parents struggle in the beginning of the career.
In case of Sonam Kapoor, there was huge expectation especially from that section of the audience who had remained admirers of Anil Kapoor for more than 25 years. She did well also in the film Sawaariya opposite Ranbir Kapoor. Although Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor’s performance in the film and the songs in Sawaariya were appreciated, Sanjay Leela Banshali’s project did not get box-office success.
Even Sonam Kapoor’s debue lost the pomp and grandieur due to Deepika Padukone’s historical debue in the film Om Shanti Om, opposite Shahrukh Khan. The film became super hit and Deepika Padukone attracted the attention of the most of the upcoming producers and directors of bollywood films. Someway or the other, Sonam Kapoor’s beginning in bollywood films got sidelined.
But she came back with style in the film Dilli 6. She showed the audience that she has both style and can adapt herself in complex roles. In Dilli 6, she played the role of the daughter of Om Puri, who was blessed with modern education and did not believe in arranged marriage with a person other than her choice.
Abhishek Bacchan brought her grandmother Wahida Rehman from US to India (A part of Old Delhi) for spending the last part of her life and treating her as well. As Sonam Kapoor lived nearby, she developed a relationship with Abhishek Bacchan. At the end of the film, Abhishek Bacchan got beaten up by the crowd when he took the disguise of a dark monkey which was disturbing the peace and solidarity of the place.
While the film depicted the fact that inspite of globalization the backward areas of our country are still filled with superstitions, religious fanatism, difference of opinions. There was a scene in the film where Sonam Kapoor expressed herself and said she knew what she never wanted, but could not make up her mind about what she wanted. She showed the sign of a matured actress in most part of Dilli 6.
Critics have a lot of faith on Sonam Kapoor and if she gets good scripts, she can contribute well in bollywood films along with Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Kareena Kapoor and other actresses.

Review of Dilli 6.

Review of the film Dilli 6.
Abhishek Bacchan is back with a bang in the film Dilli 6. Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra had directed the film. The major actors and actresses who had contributed in the film include Om Puri, Sonam Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Wahida Rehman, Divya Dutta and Atul Kulkarni.
Rakesh Mehra had impressed the viewers with his brilliant in films like Aks and Rang De Basanti in the past. In fact Amir Khan, the perfectionist had created a different dimension for Rang De Basanti with his dynamic performance. With that background Rakesh Mehra had done a notable experiment in the film Dilli 6.
In this film Abhishek Bacchan, who was an Indian who had settled in US brought his sick grandmother back to India. He brought her to New Delhi. The story had highlighted the life of people around the Chandni Chowk area of New Delhi. It falls within old Delhi, and as the pincode of the area was 110006, the people of that area used to call the place Dilli 6. That is how the name of the film had been derived.
Abhishek Bacchan realized within a short time that he had taken a wrong decision in terms of bringing her grandmother back to Old Delhi for her recovery. Instead of recovering she got entangled in a number of urbanized problems. Most of the problems were related to religion, popular beliefs, ideologies, etc.
The treatment of Rakesh Mehra had been excellent in the film. The strong script of the film had been given expression by brilliant performance of Om Puri. Om Puri, a veteran actor who had performed in more than 300 films still got motivation to do something new, even after playing every type of role that was possible in the career of an actor.
Sonam Kapur once again did a great job. She had been brilliant in Sawariya and had shown in this film that if good scripts are given she can provide adequate expression. Wahida Rehman and Rishi Kapoor were brilliant as ever. Divya Dutta and Atul Kulkarni also did a decent job.
The biggest gift for the audience had been given by AR Rehman in terms of the music that was composed for the film Dilli 6. He had been a sensation during the last few years, specially after amusing international audience with his brilliant music in Anil Kapoor’s film Slumdog Millionaire which even received Golden Globe Award. All the songs in Dilli-6 were impressive including “mashak kali”.
The film has all the prospects of becoming a dashing hit and the first blockbuster of 2009. Viewers should watch the film.
