Vidya Balan and Farhan Akhtar stormed Zee Bangla Dadagiri Grand Finale.

Vidya Balan and Farhan Akhar came to the Zee Bangla Dadagiri Grand Finale program on 22nd February, 2014. They came to promote their film Shaadi Ke Side Effects which is going to be released this Friday. Sourav Ganguly asked Vidya Balan how was her experience of acting in the film Kahaani which was fully shot in Kolkata. Vidya Balan said she considered Kolkata her second home. She was fond of Bengali culture. Everyone, from the director Sujoy Ghosh to the crew and team, showed love and respect to her. Bengali characters had given her fame also, because she rose to fame with the success of the film Parineeta. Sourav Ganguly asked her about the story of the film Shaadi Ke Side Effects. She said those who marry they will understand that the relationship of the husband and the wife is sweet. But there are differences and the film had shown the differences which was depicted by Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan. Farhan Akhtar said he had to go through a huge training for the film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. He made a great body and remained on instructive diet for the period of shooting of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Sourav Ganguly asked him what was the secret of his versatility? Farhan Akhtar had been a great hero in the films Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara. He had directed super hit films like Don. He had sung brilliant songs in the film Rock On. He said that he had passion over the areas he had ventured into and loved his work. Prasenjit Chatterjee and Rachana Banerjee also came in the show to promote their next program in Zee Bangla Channel which is titled Tumi Je Amar. The program is related to married couples. At the end of the Finale North 24 Parganas ended up being champions. They won a number of prizes. Sourav Ganguly was brilliant from the beginning till the end of the show.

It was an adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chatterjee’s successful novel Parineeta. Vidya Balan reached the depth of the character that was related to life of Kolkata during the 18th century. Vidya Balan acted opposite Sanjay Dutt and Saif Ali Khan and balanced their performance with her own performance. She also gave able lips in the song “piyu bole, piya bole” sung by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal which became super hit. Vidya Balan was also impressive in the film Lage Raho Munnabhai opposite Sanjay Dutt. The film was based on the story of the transformation of Munna Bhai, who was notorious for his unlawful activities through the dictates of Mahatma Gandhi. He told lies to Vidya Balan about being a Professor, but gathered some courage to tell the truth that he was not a Professor. The songs “pal pal pal” created a theme for the film and he performance of both Sanjay Dutt and Vidya Balan was very impressive. Although Vidya Balan’s films like Kismat Conection with Shahid Kapoor or Hey Baby opposite Akshay Kumar did mediocre business in the last few years, the viewers had seen her strong performance in the film Bhoolbhulaiya. She had done a good job opposite Abhishek Bacchan and Big B in the film Paa in 2009. She loved Abhishek Bacchan. Their child Big B suffered from a strange disease. Before death Big B united Abhishek Bacchan and Vidya Balan. Her reserve performance once again amazed the viewers. She received the filmfare award for the best actress in 2010 for her brilliant performance in the film Paa. In 2010, her other performance in the film Ishqiya opposite Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi was well appreciated by the viewers. Her role of a widow was really experimental in nature. Shahrukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor stormed IIFA Awards 2013 at Macao.

The IIFA Awards 2013 hosted in Macao had been telecast in Star Plus Channel on 11th August, 2013. The awards were given more than a month ago but the viewers in India got a scope of seeing it for the first time in Star Plus Channel on 11th August, 2013. Shahrukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor were the anchors of the show and they did a great job. The best newcomer male award went to Ayushmann Khurana in the film Vicky Donor. The best newcomer female award went to Yami Gautam for Vicky Donor. Shahrukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor brought the newcomers on stage like Parineeti Chopra, Ayushmann Khurana and Shushant Singh Rajput. They were asked to prove that they had talent. They were asked to dance, to sing and then act. Shahrukh Khan showed them how to sing and it was found that he was only giving lips, the actual song “soorja hua madhyam” was being sung by Sonu Nigam. Shahrukh Khan promoted his new film Chennai Express by dancing on the song number “1 2 3 4” with the other dancers. Director Gauri Shinde received the best debutant director award for the film English Vinglish. Sri Devi came and danced in her popular songs “hawa hawai” from Mr. India. Rishi Kapoor received the award for the best villain for his performance in the film Agneepath. He was not present in Macao. The award was taken by Randhir Kapoor. A special award was given to Javed Akhtar for his immense contribution to Bollywood films as story writer, script writer and lyricist. Ranbir Kapoor received the best actor award in a leading role for his performance in the film Barfi. Vidya Balan received the best actress award in a leading role for her performance in the film Kahaani. Abhishek Bacchan won the best comedian award for his performance in the film Bol Bacchan. Annu Kapoor won the best supporting actor award for his performance in the film Vicky Donor. Anushka Sharma won the best supporting actress award for her performance in the film Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Both of them deserved the awards. In fact it is a pity that Salman Khan did not win filmfare award in 2012, for his performance in the film Bodyguard. Hritik Roshan won the award of best actor drama award for his performance in the film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Vidya Balan won the best actress award for her performance in the film No One Killed Jessica and Dirty Picture. She had won all the awards in 2012 for her performances. Akshay Kumar won the best actor comedy award for his performance in the film Desi Boys. Anushka Sharma won the best actress comedy award for her performance in the film Ladies v. Ricky Bahl. Ajay Devgan won the best actor action award for his performance in the film Singham. He really deserved the award. Bipasha Basu won the best actress action award for her performance in the film Dum Maro Dum. Rohit Shetty won the dream director award for his film Singham. The Dirty Picture won the film of the year award. Ali Zafar won the superstar of tomorrow award for his performance in the film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. Parineeti Chopra won the superstar of tomorrow award for her performance in the film Ladies v. Ricky Bahl. Tanuja had been awarded for her contribution to bollywood cinema while Rekha had been considered pride of the industry.

Actress Vidya Balan had got the recognition she deserved. After winning Zee Cine Awards for the best actress for both popular category and jury category she won the filmfare award 2012 also for the performance in the film Dirty Picture.

In the male category, Ranbir Kapoor won the filmfare award for the best actor for the performance in the film Rockstar. He won it against the other nominees Salman Khan in Bodyguard and Shahrukh Khan in Don 2.  Composition of music in the film Rockstar earned AR Rehman his filmfare award for 2012.

Zoya Akhtar won the best director award for the film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Rani Mukherjee won the best supporting actress award for her performance in the film No One Killed Jessica. Farhan Akhtar won the best supporting actor award for the performance in the film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Mohit Chauhan won the best singer male award for the song “jo vi mai” in the film Rockstar. Usha Utthup and Rekha Bhardwaj won the best singer female award for the song “ankho se” in the film Saat Khoon Maaf. Aruna Irani received lifetime achievement award for her contribution in hindi cinema.

It is strange that Bodyguard was not considered for awards inspite of the film doing business worth 160 crores. Neither Salman Khan won the best actor award, nor Kareena Kapoor won the best actress award, nor Shreya Ghoshal won the best singer award for “teri meri” song, nor Siddique received the best director award. Ranbir Kapoor and Shahrukh Khan hosted the award.

Salman Khan was again ignored for awards inspite of giving greatest blockbuster Bodyguard in 2011. Vidya Balan won the best actress award in Zee Cine Awards 2012, for her brilliant performance in the film Dirty Picture in both the popular category and the jury category. She is winning awards everywhere. Imtiaz Ali won the best director award for the film Rockstar. AR Rehman won the best music director award for his brilliant performance in the film Rockstar. Shreya Ghoshal won the best female singer award for the song “saibo” in the film Shor in City. Mohit Chouhan won the best male singer award for the song “job hi mai” from Rockstar. The song “ishq sufinana” from Dirty Picture had been adjudged as the best song of the year. Siddque got the award for the best debut director for the film Bodyguard. Dirty Picture, Rockstar and Bodyguard got most of the awards. Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra hosted the awards ceremony held in Macau on 21st January, 2012.

She deserved the award, but Kareena Kapoor had provided the next best performance in the films Bodyguard and Ra One. Milan Luthria won the best director award for the film Dirty Picture. Saif Ali Khan won the best supporting actor award for his performance in the film Aarakshan. Aditi Rao Hydari won the best supporting actress award for her performance in the film Yeh Saali Zindagi. AR Rehman won the best music director award for his music in the film Rockstar. It is very strange that Pritam did not get a nomination also for his music in the film Ready and Himesh Reshammiya did not get a nomination even for his music in the film Bodyguard. Good music was one of the reasons for the success of the film Bodyguard which did business worth 160 crores. If popular choice actors, actresses, singers, composers, don’t get any award, most of the awards look meaningless. Mohit Chauhan won the best male singer award for the song “phir se ud chala” in the film Rockstar, while Shreya Ghoshal won the best female singer award for the song “ooh lala ooh lala” in the film Dirty Picture.
