Basu Chatterjee’s Hamari Bahu Alka was a realistic film.

Director Basu Chatterjee was famous for making realistic films in the 1970s and 1980s. His films Chitchor, Choti Si Baat, Rajnigandha and many others showed the life of middle-class Indians. His film Hamari Bahu Alka was directed and released in the year 1982. In the film Utpal Dutta, a contractor lived with his wife Sudha Shivpuri and two sons Rakesh Roshan and Master Raju. Rakesh Roshan was studying MBBS. Rakesh Roshan’s friend Asrani got married to Prema Narayan. Utpal Dutt thought it was better to get his son Rakesh Roshan married to his friend’s daughter Bindiya Goswami. But Utpal Dutta’s strict fatherhood made life difficult for Rakesh Roshan. He did not allow his son to stay in his bedroom. He was asked to study till 11 pm and then go to bedroom. By that time Bindiya Goswami got tired and felt asleep. In the house Utpal Dutta and Sudha Shivpuri both were very caring to Bindiya Goswami but she could hardly spend any time with Rakesh Roshan. So his friend Asrani wrote a letter from Bindiya Goswami’s village that her mother was ill. Rakesh Roshan booked a room in the hotel for her. He took her there. He used to come to the hotel room late at night, spend the night and return back home everyday. One day when Utpal Dutta could not find Rakesh Roshan back at home, the entire drama ended. Bindiya Goswami’s father came from the village and explained to Utpal Dutta that after marriage Rakesh Roshan and Bindiya Goswami required some space. He should allow them to go for honeymoon and reduce down his strictness. He agreed to do it. The subject of the film was very simple. The music was composed by Rajesh Roshan. All the actors and actresses Utpal Dutta, Rakesh Roshan, Bindiya Goswami and others did a great job. Basu Chatterjee’s direction was excellent. The film should be preserved and restored.

Always when the dream combination had worked together they had created magic. Although the music was appreciated the film could not do good business due to use of Spanish which was not understandable to the common masses. In 2013, the viewers are anxiously waiting for the combination of Rajesh Roshan, Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan to fire in the film Krissh 2. The first part was super hit. The second part has huge expectations. The viewers expect grand performance from Rajesh Roshan, Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan whenever they work together again.

Happy birthday to Hrithik Roshan.

Happy birthday to Hrithik Roshan.

The viewers of bollywood films wish happy birthday to superstar Hrithik Roshan on 11th January, 2011. He has been considered as one of the greatest style icons of India and probably the most dynamic actor ever to grace Indian silver screen. In 2010, he won the award for the style icon in Lux Sabse Favourite Kaun award.

When he appeared in his father Rakesh Roshan’s project Kaho Na Pyar Hai in 2000, he broke all types of records that were set up in Indian cinema in respect of revenues derived from successful films. He played a double role with the title Rohit as an Indian and Raj as a Kiwi citizen. The smartness and elegance that he showed in the Kiwi character was unparallel considering the capability of all the leading superstars of the country. He acted opposite Amisha Patel who was also sublime in the film. Last but not the least his dancing capability was appreciated by every section of the crowd, especially in songs like “pyar ki kashti me”, “kaho na pyar hai”, “haseeno ki mehfil”, etc.

But after the success in Kaho Na Pyar Hai, his off-beat films like Fiza and Mission Kashmir did not get proper response from the crowd. He gave spirited performance opposite Karishma Kapoor in Fiza and Preeti Zinta in Mission Kashmir. In fact he dared to even act in a negative character in the film Mission Kashmir opposite Sanjay Dutt in the early part of his career, which other actors of his age would not have dared to do. He gave adequate lips in the song “bhumaro bhumaro” in Mission Kashmir.

After a series of medium budget films like Mai Pyar Ki Diwani Hoon, he again stormed box-office with the success of his film Koi Mil Gaya. He received the filmfare award for the best actor again with dynamic performance in the role of a mentally retarded person. The film was shot in Australia by director Rakesh Roshan and Preeti Zinta and Rekha did very well in their respective roles. The relationship with Aliens was well expressed by Hrithik Roshan.

He again received filmfare award for best actor in the film Dhoom 2. Again he acted in a negative character in the form of international thief. He became notorious for his planned stealing operations in partnership with Aishwarya Rai. His deeds or misdeeds were detected by the intelligent investigator played by Abhishek Bacchan. He left him without charges after Hrithik transferred the stolen property to Abhishek Bacchan. Hrithik Roshan showed some acrobatic stunts which only Hollywood actors could have taken in the film. The dance performance in the song “dhoom machale” was brilliant by international standards.

Hrithik Roshan made the viewers speechless with his dynamic performance in the film Krishh. He acted opposite Priyanka Chopra and exhibited the supernatural powers that he inherited from his father who received them from aliens. The scenic beauty of South East Asian countries amazed the viewers along with the performance of Hrithik Roshan.

In 2008, Hrithik Roshan’s brilliant performance in the role of Mughal Emperor Akbar astonished the viewers. He complimented the dynamic performance of Aishwarya Rai in the film Jodha Akbar which was first blockbuster of 2008. He won the filmfare award for the best actor in 2009 for best performance in Jodha Akbar. His other hit films included Laksh, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, etc.

Indian viewers are not that much fond of westernized performances, otherwise with the multitalented approach to films, Hrithik Roshan would have dethroned Shahrukh Khan from the Number One position long time back.

Viewers are waited for the 2 grand releases of Hrithik Roshan, namely Kites and Guzarish in 2010. Both the films did not do well in the box-office. If Spanish version being inadmissible and ununderstandable to rural mass of India was the root cause for average business of Kites, lack of interest towards serious films on the part of the audience may have effected Guzarish. Bur Hrithik Roshan acted well in both the films. Even with limited success, the viewers expect Hrithik Roshan to continue his good work and do even better in the years to come.

Kites did not get a good opening.

Kites did not get a good opening.

Hrithik Roshan’s new film Kites did not get a good opening after it was released last week. There was huge expectation from the film, with Rakesh Roshan being involved in production and Anurag Bau in direction. Anurag Basu, the director of the film experimented with a remote subject where the entire affair between Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori did take place without each of them knowing the language of the other.

The love story had a number of twists and turns with able support from the new actress Kangana Ranaut. Although Hrithik Roshan had played the role of a romantic character, the depiction of romance has been done in a serious manner. The film has been shot in different parts of USA and India.

Critics had argued that the reason why Kites got a slow opening was because most part of the film had the Spanish language and the English language. The affair between Barbara Mori and Hrithik Roshan took place in the Spanish and English language.

So viewers from the states in India who prefer the hindi language, like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, etc., could not accept the film in its totality as the language stood as a barrier. Hrithik Roshan played the role of a dance teacher in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hrithik Roshan entered into deal with Kangana Ranaut who wanted to marry him. Kangana Ranaut was the daughter of Kabir Bedi, a rich casino owner in the place.

Kites had been released in the English version as well with the title Kites: The Remix. The music was composed by Rakesh Roshan. The songs “zindagi do pal ki”, “dil kyun yeh mera”, sung by KK got good response. The song “fire” sung by Vishal Dadlani also got good response.

Hrithik Roshan had shown a number of acrobatic stunts. There were many hot scenes between Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori.

The viewers should appreciate the film. As far as technical matters are concerned the film had been excellent. Let us hope that the film do good business in the days to come.

Happy birthday to Rajesh Roshan.

Happy birthday to Rajesh Roshan.

The viewers of bollywood films wish happy birthday to Rajesh Roshan on 24th May, 2009. He being the son of legendary composer Roshan, was expected to compose unique songs. His father Roshan was considered one of the greatest composers of all times with his classic tunes in films like Bahu Begum, Barsaat Ki Raat, Aarti, Bheegi Raat, Dil Hi To Hai, Taj Mahal, etc.

When Rajesh Roshan joined bollywood in mid-70s, music lost part of their significance. The main reason was that it was the age of anti-establishment films where Amitabh Bacchan,Vinod Khanna, Shatrughun Sinha, Dharmender, and others raised their voices against the evil practices existing in different sectors in India. Even then Rajesh Roshan’s compositions in films like Julie, with the title song “Julie” sung by Kishore Kumar, and Yaarana, with the song “chu kar meri manko” sung by KK, had attracted the attention of the viewers.

From the time his brother Rakesh Roshan turned into producer and director, Rajesh Roshan gave his best music in those films. His music in the film Karan Arjun with Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan became super hit. Some popular songs included “jaati hoon mai”, “o bandhan do”, “gup chup gup chup”, etc.

Rajesh Roshan and Rakesh Roshan combination created history with Hrithik Roshan’s first film Kahona Pyar Hai. All the songs in the film “kahona pyar hai”, “pyar ki kasti me”, “haseeno ki mehfil”, etc., stormed bollywood. In that year the filmfare awards in most of the categories were won by Hrithik Roshan, Rakesh Roshan, Rajesh Roshan. The brilliant locations of New Zealand added hue and colour in the musical blockbuster.

From that time whenever Rajesh Roshan, Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan, worked together to produced gold. The music of Koi Mil Gaya was super hit with songs like “koi mil gaya”. The locations of Australia and the lips of Preity Zinta complimented the powerful performance of Hrithik Roshan in the film.

The same combination provided brilliant songs in the film Krissh. Again the music of Rajesh Roshan was liked by the viewers with songs like “dil na diya”, “chori chori chupke chupke”. In this film Priyanka Chopra was as elegant as Hrithik Roshan.

Hrithik Roshan has a long way to go. So both Rajesh Roshan and Rakesh Roshan are expected to produce gems in upcoming projects involving all three of the them in future.

Farhan Akhar has acting talent

Farhan Akhtar has acting talent.

Farhan Akhtar, the young director, has already shown his skills in direction in the last few years. Generally it has been seen some of the directors of bollywood industry had acting skills themselves. Raj Kapoor and Guru Dutt were established actors themselves and passion towards direction persuaded them to make landmark films. Even directors like Subhash Ghai , Rakesh Roshan had featured in many films.

Farhan Akhtar amused the viewers with his innovative direction in films like Don. He took a grand risk. No other director would have a film on the same subject like Don and with the same title. In the late 70s, when Big B storm affected Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Don made the viewers crazy about bollywood films. Superstar Shahrukh Khan played the same role with a modernized style.

The story was also twisted and Priyanka Chopra and Boman Irani were given challenging roles in the new version of Don. The music of Don, composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy flabbergasted the viewers with hit sons like “maurya maurya”, “aaj ki raat”, “khaike paan banaraswala”, etc. Even the shooting in Malaysia and other dynamic locations impressed the viewers. The entire credit goes to Farhan Akhtar.

Farhan Akhtar showed his acting skills from Rock On and had a great job in the film Luck By Chance. Very significantly Farhan Akhtar showed the struggle of a newcomer in bollywood industry with his simple style of acting. He did not show any mannerisms. He showed the crude reality existing in bollywood industry. Had any professionally actor acted in the film Luck by Chance, the actor would have overacted and the performance would have brought in larger than life image.

The viewers should also have an improved mentally of appreciating the performance of realistic actors liked Farhan Akhtar. The film should be watched by the viewers and appreciated. Most of the actors and actresses of the present film industry are the products of brilliant direction of eminent directors. If they had not given proper guidance the efforts of the actors and actresses would have gone in vain.

Farhan Akhtar showed continue his acting even more in future films. Sohail Khan, the brother of Salman Khan was also initially interested in production of films rather than direction. Presently he had shown his skills in acting. He had complimented Salman Khan in films like Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya and God Tussi Great Ho.

Farhan Akhtar is an asset for the industry and the viewers expect better performance from him in the years to come.
