Raveena realized that her superior police officer Amrish Puri was a criminal himself and sided with Paresh Rawal. The performance of Raveena in a daring role in Vijeta amazed the viewers. She also showed her comedy skills in the film Andaz Apna Apna opposite Ami Khan and Salman Khan. She was the mate of rich girl Karishma Kapoor. But instead she pretended to be the rich girl and Karishma Kapoor pretended to be the maid. The film directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi did brilliant business in the early 1990s. But later on in her career she got challenging roles. She got the national award for the best actress for her brilliant performance in the film Daman. It was related to ill-treatment of women. She was sublime in the film Shool opposite Manoj Vajpayee, where the corruption in politics was at issue. Shool showed the high level of corruption in Bihar to such extent that some of the politicians wanted to ban the film. She gave landmark performance in the film Jago opposite Sanjay Kapoor. Her daughter was raped by miscreants in local train in Mumbai and she prayed for justice in court of law. Manoj Vajpayee, the police officer in the film faced the resistance from different members of the society in proving the case. Her performance in the court scene amazed the viewers and she got critical acclamation for the performance in the film. Raveena Tandon was brilliant in the film Daava opposite Akshay Kumar. She acted in other hit films like Officer opposite Sunil Shetty, Ladlaa opposite Anil Kapoor, Zid opposite Sunny Deol, to name a few.She always had kept her mark in action films where Sunil Shetty or Akshay Kumar or Sanjay Dutt had the major role. It is a pity that when she was at the peak of her career that she left films after getting married and begetting children. In 2011 she had acted in the film Buddha Hoga Tera Baap. Rekha The viewers of bollywood films wish happy birthday to dashing star Rekha on 10th October, 2012. She had dominated bollywood films of the 80s. Being the daughter of Legendary South Indian actor Gemini Ganeshan on 10th October, 1954, Rekha created a separate place for herself in bollywood film industry. She was better known as Bhanurekha Ganeshan. In 1969 she acted opposite Biswajeet Chatterjee in the film Do Shikari. She got the her lead role as heroine opposite Navin Nischal in the film Sawan Bhado. In the early 70s, Rekha had to fight for her place in the bollywood industry, at a time when Hema Malini, Asha Parekh, Sharmila Tagore were dominating the industry. But she acted in many landmark films during that period including Gora Aur Kala opposite Rajender Kumar, Rampur Ka Laxman opposite Randhir Kapoor, etc. From the late 70s her films opposite megastar Big B changed her career. Most of the films ended up being super hit including Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Mr. Natwarlal, Suhaag, Silsila, etc. Rekha gradually developed her acting and became one of the most versatile actresses of the 80s. Rekha had acted opposite all the leading actors of the 80s namely Jeetender, Dharmender, Big B, Vinod Mehra, etc. She received national award for her memorable performance in the role of a mujrewali in the film Umrao Jaan. She received filmfare award for best actress in her dashing role in the film Khoon Bhari Maang in 1988. She acted in more than 180 films. Along with the commercial films like Silsila, Mr. Natwarlal, Suhaag, she had been remembered for the performances in off-beat films. She played landmark roles in off-beat films like Gulzar’s Ghar and Ijaazat, Shyam Benegal’s Kalyug, Govind Nihalini’s Vijeta, etc. Even her films in the 90s like Kamasutra and in 2000 onwards in films like Lajja and Koi Mil Gaya, she showed her metal as a very talented actress. Rishi Kapoor stormed Zee Bangla Dance Bangla Dance Finale Program.

Rishi Kapoor. Superstar Rishi Kapoor stormed Zee Bangla Dance Bangla DanceFinale Program on Sunday, 16th September, 2012. Superstar Mithun Chakravarty invited Rishi Kapoor in the show. There were other celebrities as well in the finale. June Malia, Rachana Banerjee, Jishu Sengupta and other celebrities graced the occasion. The child dancers, both boys and girls all had devoted the finale with songs of Rishi Kapoor’s films. Dipanwita Kundu and other child dancers had already become famous among people by their performances in Zee Bangla. Two children performed on Rishi Kapoor’s song “dafliwale dafli bajaa” in the film Sargam. Jaya Prada and Rishi Kapoor danced in the original song. After the performance was over Rishi Kapoor said that those compositions of traditional songs were the most authentic compositions and they should not be forgotten. June Malia asked Rishi Kapoor come on stage and dance with her in the song “dafliwale dafli baja”. She also confessed that she was absolute admirer of Rishi Kapoor from her child days. Mithun Chakravarty delivered the certificates and asked Rishi Kapoor to give them to the finalists. Rishi Kapoor encouraged the children for their spirited performances. At the end of the show, Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakravarty and others danced in the song “meri umar ki naujawano” from Rishi Kapoor’s film Karz, with child participants and the celebrities.

He had remained one of the most successful producer and director in the last 10 years. Being born in a prestigious family and the son of legendary composer Roshanlal Nagrath, Rakesh Roshan had to prove a lot when he started his career as an actor in the early 70s. His film Paraya Dhan with Hema Malini and Balraj Sahani became very successful in the late 60s. The film was remembered for the melodious music composed by RD Burman. The songs “ayo jhume gayere”, “holi re holi” became super hit in the late 60s and early 70s. After that, Rakesh Roshan acted in many films opposite Rishi Kapoor. The combination of Rakesh Roshan and Rishi Kapoor gave super hit films like Khel Khel Me, Aap Ke Diwane, Yeh Wada Raha, etc. While Khel Khel Me was a suspense thriller, Aap Ke Deewane was a romantic film, where both Rakesh Roshan and Rihi Kapoor proved their worth. The music of Rajesh Roshan in the film Aap Ke Deewane was worth mentioning. The title song “aapke diwane hai”, and “tum ko khush dekhkar mai bahut khush hua” sung by Rafi and Kishore became super hit in the late 70s. All the songs of the film became super hit. Amrish Puri played the role of corrupt industrialist who killed Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan in their first life, and after they were reborn combated their attack. The major shooting of the film was done in Rajasthan. In the last 10 years whenever Rakesh Roshan had produced and directed film with his son Hrithik Roshan the films had become the greatest blockbusters of the year. Kahona Pyar Hai stormed bollywood in 2000. It was sheer brilliance of Rakesh Roshan to present his son with bravery in the first film. Till now it had been the best film Hrithik Roshan had acted in his long career. The other hit films of Hrithik Roshan directed by Rakesh Roshan included Koi Mil Gaya and Krissh. Rakesh Roshan chose different actresses like Amisha Patel, Preeti Zinta, Priyanka Chopra in his different films and all of them contributed to make the films successful. The viewers awaited the release of Hrithik Roshan’s new film Kites in 2010. With Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori in the film, the critics predicted that it was going to be another blockbuster. But due to most of the film having communication in Spanish, the Indian viewers could not appreciate the film to that extent. Rakesh Roshan had been working with his son Hrithik Roshan in the film Krish 2, which is a sequel of the film Krish. Whenever Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan come up with a project they always make it big. Viewers look forward to more number of Rakesh Roshan Hrithik Roshan combinations in future. Rakesh Roshan should continue his great work in the years to come.

Rituporno Ghosh had experimented in the film Chitrangada.

Rituporno Ghosh, Chitrangada. Director Rituporno Ghosh had experimented in the film Chitrangada. In Rabindranath Tagore’s Chitrangada it was shown that due to Shiva’s blessings a King of Manipur had only male sons. On one of the occasions he gave birth to a daughter. The King taught the daughter Chitrangada all the manly skills including the skills relating to warfare. Chitrangada fell in love with Arjun. During that period she tried to be feminine to impress upon the mind of Arjun. Rituporno Ghosh’s had a different plot altogether. He played the character of the son of Dipankar Dey. He had feminine nature from childhood. He became a dance trainer. Dipankar Dey never liked it. Jishu Sengupta in the film fell in love with Rituporno Ghosh. To impress upon Rituporno Ghosh at the end of the film he underwent a sex-change operation. But he showed anxiety about able to continue with the dancing after the operation. At the end of the film Jishu Sengupta got married to Raima Sen. It is interesting to see how the viewers of Kolkata accept the film as it is going to be released in September, 2012. The subject is complicated. Rituporno Ghosh experimented with the subject. Let us hope for the best for the reception of the film.

Rachana Banerjee is back in Zee Bangla Didi No. 1 Program.

Rachana Banerjee Rachana Banerjee, the great anchor of Zee Bangla Didi No. 1 Program had been back in the role of the Anchor of the same program. Didi No. 1 is a popular program in Zee Bangla Channel which had been running for more than 2 years from 5.30 pm on all the days excepting Sundays. Anchor June Malia had a done brilliant job in anchoring the same program for almost a year. June Malia’s handling of the games and the participants were absolutely beautiful. She was very soft-spoken and polite. The studio where Rachana Banerjee Didi No. 1 used to take place in 2011, was different from the Studio where June Malia’s Didi No. 1 used to take place. Again the present Didi No. 1 Program which is anchored by Rachana Banerjee is taking place in another studio. The format of the game had remained the same. In Rachana Banerjee’s Zee Bangla Didi No. 1 also in the first round different games are played. On Monday she made the participants cut vegetables and make the Bengali dish pataler dorma. The second round consists of musical round. Viewers are happy with Rachana Banerjee and the program is definitely going to be successful.
