Jimut, Subhashree displayed great classical singing in Zee Bangla Saregamapa Finale.


Jimut, Subhashree displayed great classical singing in Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program. Jimut became the champion of Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program. He won the grand finale of the program held on Saturday, 2nd June, 2017. Subhashree became the 1st Runner Up. Sudoy became the 3rd Runner up. Kumar Shanu, Madhushree, Palak Mucchal, Shantanu Maitra and Jeet Ganguly were the judges. They judged the entire program. The good part of the program was the best talents were promoted. Jishu Sengupta anchored the show. It has been seen that previously in Reality Shows, the singers who have better presence and rugged looks win the events. It did not happen with Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program. Jimut was the singer who all through the competition had taken up challenging songs having harkat, murkis and adverse movements. He took up the challenge of singing Dhananjay Bhattacharya’s landmark song “jhanana jhanana baaje”, he sang Manobendra Mukherjee’s classical song “na jeyona madhujamini”, “bone noy mane mor pakhi aar gaan gay”, Manna Dey’s “baje go bina”, “laga chunri me daag chupayu kaise”. These songs require serious classical practice. Only quality singers can sing these songs. Jimut was rightly adjudged the champion. Subhashree also took up challenging songs. She sang Haimanti Shukla’s song “ekhono sarangi ta bajche”, Lataji’s song “piya tose naina laage re”, Shreya Ghoshal’s song “tumi je amar”, etc. She in fact sang Shreya Ghoshal’s song in front of Shreya Ghoshal herself. She came as judge. She brilliant songs like “deewani ho gayi”, “barso re megha megha”, and many other songs. After marriage she has put on weight but the singing quality has been the same. She agreed that singing the song “ami je tomar” live was very difficult which Shubhashree did with elegance. Suday initially was singing Kumar Shanu’s songs. There after in the later rounds when competition became tougher, he started taking up challenging songs. He sang Rafisahab’s “ehsaan tera hoga mujhpar”, Manna Dey’s song “ayo twist Karen”, to name a few with whatever capability he had. So he improved in the final rounds. The other 2 finalists also did well including Mekhala and Sayon. The orchestration in the program was outstanding. Those who played live instruments they almost replicated the original songs. So contestants were lucky to perform with these musicians. The show ended after 6 months. It was a good show. Audiences and viewers were entertained.

Sonu Nigam rocked Zee Bangla Saregamapa Grand Finale.


Sonu Nigam rocked Zee Bangla Saregamapa Grand Finale. Brilliant singer Sonu Nigam, came saw and conquered the Zee Bangla Saregamapa Grand Finale. The finale was held on 16th November, 2014. Along with the judges Alka Yagnik, Kumar Shanu and Hariharan, Sonu Nigam appeared as guest judge. It was meeting point of stalwarts. The six finalists sang their songs in the different rounds. Rick, Anwesha, Arfin, Ahenjita, Kamalika and Aritra were the 6 finalists. The 3 judges Alka Yagnik, Kumar Shanu and Hariharan guided the participants to the finals. Sonu Nigam said that he had started Zee Saregamapa program in Zee TV long time back. From that time the program gained popularity and later taken by the regional channels. But none of the Zee Saregamapa regional music programs were as brilliant as the Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program. The music arrangers and music players were brilliant. In the second round the contestants were asked to sing Sonu Nigam’s songs. Arfin sang Sonu Nigam’s song “tu hi tu”. He did a great job. Aritra sang the song “tumse milke dilka” from film Main Hoon Na. Ahenjita sang the song “abhi mujh me yahin” from the film Agneepath. The other participants also sang Sonu Nigam’s song “suraj hua maddhyam” and other songs. In between the song Hariharan sang a ghazal. Sonu Nigam himself sang the song “abhi mujhme yahin”. Alka Yagnik and Sonu Nigam also sang their songs. In one of the songs Jishu Sengupta the anchor danced with June Malia, Rachana Banerjee and others. Singer Shilajit himself sang a song and extended the microphone to other singers like Swapan Basu and others. At the end of the show, Anwesha was declared the winner of the show. She won many prizes. The program came to an end. It ran for more than 4 months. Presently Zee Bangla Dadagiri Program will begin.

Sudesh Bhosle stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program.


Sudesh Bhosle stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program. Sudesh Bhosle stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program on 1st November, 2014. He was a sensation. On that day he came as a guest judge in addition to judges Kumar Shanu, Alka Yagnik and Hariharan. One of the participants sang his song “jumma chuma de de” from the film Hum. It was picturised on Amitabh Bacchan in the film. After the participant sang the song, Sudesh Bhosle was asked to sing the song. He did set the stage on fire. Kumar Shanu asked Sudesh Bhosle to sing one of his songs in the manner of Hemant Kumar. He sang in the same style of Hemanta Mukherjee. He was also asked to sing the same song in the style of SD Burman. Again he sang the song very well. Then Sudesh Bhosle was asked to sing one of the songs of Hemant Kumar. He sang the song “yeh nayan dare dare, yeh jam bhare bhare”. He imitated the deep voice of Hemant Kumar and made the crowd spell bound. He also sang one of the songs of SD Burman in style. After the songs were sung by Sudesh Bhosle he was asked to imitate big actors. He acted the way Asrani had acted and used the lyrics of the song “yashoda ka nandlala” for acting in the manner of Asrani. The he imitated Sanjeev Kumar in the style he delivered his dialogue in the film Aandhi. Then he imitated Amitabh Bacchan both in the song “shawa shawa” and also told the dialogues of Agneepath. One of the participants sang Manna Dey’s song and everyone appreciated his effort. One of the female participants sang the song “man saat samandar” and one of the other participants sang the song “mohuae jhoreche aaj mou go”. Hariharan and the other judges appreciated her. Shanu said phataphati meaning brilliant. Alka Yagnik said wallah wallah subhanallah. One of the participants were eliminated at the end of the show. Jishu Sengupta anchored the show in style.

Rekha Bhardwaj stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program.


Rekha Bhardwaj stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program. Rekha Bhardwaj was invited as guest judge in Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program on 25th October, 2014. She was the additional judge in addition to the judges Kumar Shanu, Alka Yagnik and Hariharan. The participants sang excellent songs on 25th October. Alka Yagnik in her comment mentioned the way the contestants performed it became difficult for them to eliminate anyone. Kumar Shanu was so pleased with the singing of the contestants that he went on giving Goggles and Sunglasses to the contestants. One of the contestants sang Manna Dey’s song “Jodi kagoje lekho naam kagaj ure jabe”. It was a song with a lot of emotions. The contestant did justice to the song. Another contestant sang Manna Dey’s song ‘baje go bina” from the film Marjina Abdulla, composed by Salil Choudhury. There was huge amount of classical touch in the song. The contestant did well too. One of the contestants sang Shyamal Mitra’s song “jiban khatar proti patay jotoi lekho hishab nikash kichui robena” from the film Deya Neya. It was composed by Shyamal Mitra himself. The contestant did well. Other contestants sang songs like “zaara zaara” which were difficult to sing. Jishu Sengupta and the contestants requested Rekha Bhardwaj to sing her hit songs. She sang the song “sasural genda phool” from the film Dilli 6. She also sang the song “fakira maan ja” from the film Yeh Jawaani Hai Diwani. Everyone were moved with her presentation. She was also requested to sing the song “namak ishq ka” from the film Omkara. It was composed by Vishal Bhardwaj. She also sung the song “phir le aya dil majbur kya kije” from the film Barfi. Pritam composed the music and Rekha Bhardwaj made everyone mesmerized with the performance. Jishu Sengupta anchored the program very well.

Sabita Choudhury and Antara Choudhury rocked Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program.
Sabita Choudhury, the wife of Salil Choudhury and Antara Choudhury rocked Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program on 16th November, 2013. The program was dedicated to the maestro Salil Choudhury. Incidentally 19th November is the birth anniversary of Salil Choudhury. Everyone in the program paid respect to the great composer who had left us many years ago. One of the judges Akriti Kakkar sang the song “aja re pardesi”. Sabita Choudhury told everyone that Bimal Roy, the director of the film after the recording of the song was not insisting in keeping the song in the film Madhumati. Then Salil Choudhury and Lata convinced him in respect of its relevance in the film. The rest was history. One of the child contestants sang the song “jhilmil jhauer bone jhikimiki” composed by Salil Choudhury. Sabita Choudhury and Antara Choudhury sang the song themselves. Sabita Choudhury told the contestants that her husband Salil Choudhury composed the song based on Punjabi folk and the hindi version “naam mera nimmo, makam ludhiyana”. Sabita Choudhury and Antara Choudhury shared few photos of Salil Choudhury with giants of Bollywood industry like Manna Dey, Asha Bhosle and others. Thereafter Antara Choudhury showed a photo of her learning the song “kali re kali re” from her father Salil Choudhury. Sabita Choudhury also shared the information that Salil Choudhury was a great cook and he liked different dishes including the mutton dishes. One of the child contestants sang the song “maine tere liye hi saat rang ke sapne chune” which was sung by Mukesh in the film Anand. One program was too small to show tribute to a legend of legends of the calibre of Salil Choudhury. Sabita Choudhury and Antara Choudhury were very happy about the fact that the child contestants tried their best at the early age and showed their respect to Salil Choudhury. Jishu Sengupta, the anchor of the show, and the other judges Kumar Shanu, Akriti Kakkar and Joy Sarkar were very happy that Sabita Choudhury and Antara Choudhury shared their memories of Salil Choudhury with the new generation.

Anik, Debu, Imon and others sang well in Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program.


Anik, Debu and others sang very well in Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program.
Singer Anik, Debu, Sidhu, Pata and others stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program on 15th November, 2013. They sang with the child contestants. Jishu Sengupta anchored the program. Anik sang a duet song with Ronita Banerjee “tum jo aye zindagi me baat bangayi”. It was originally sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in the film Once Upon a Time in Mumbai which was composed by Pritam. The judges Kumar Shanu, Akriti Kakkar and Joy Sarkar appreciated Ronita Banerjee for her effort. Kumar Shanu asked Anik to sing a song. Anik said her childhood hero and guru was Manna Dey. He did not get a scope of getting the blessings of the great singer. He died recently. He brought a harmonium and sang Manna Dey’s song “kophota chokher jol phelecho je tumi bhalobasle.” Anik sang the song very well. Pota sang the song of Cactus titled “oi je hold pakhi”. Debu sang the song “ei poth Jodi na shesh hoi tobe kemon hoto tumi boloto” with a child contestant. The song was originally sung by Hemanta Mukherjee and Sandhya Mukherjee in the film Saptapadi. The song was picturized on Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen. All the judges Kumar Shanu, Akriti Kakkar and Joy Sengupta appreciated the effort of the child contestant because the song had some element of acting and that was done very well by the child contestant. Imon Chatterjee sang the song “ek chatur naar karke singar” with a child contestant. The child contestant sang the version of Manna Dey while Imon Chatterjee sang the version of Kishore Kumar. Everyone appreciated the effort of the child. Sidhu also sang a duet song with a child contestant. Jishu Sengupta appreciated the contestants very well.

Vinod Rathore stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program.


Singer Vinod Rathore stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program on 8th January, 2013. He was invited in the show along with Sadhna Sargam as guest judges. He belonged to a musical family being the son of Pandit Chaturbhuj Rathod. Sadhna Sargam also was from a musical family in Maharashtra. Vinod Rathore sang many successful songs in bollywood films. Some of his successful songs included “parbat se kaali ghata takrai” for Rishi Kapoor in the film Chandni, “romeo naam mera” for Anil Kapoor in the film Roop Ki Raani Choron Ka Raaja, “aaisi deewanigi” for Shahrukh Khan in the film Deewana, “nayak nahin khalnayak hoon mai” for Sanjay Dutt in the film Khalnayak, etc. Sadhna Sargam sang many impressive songs in bollywood films. Some of the successful songs included “ahista ahista” from Swades, “chupke se lagja gale” from Saathiya, “tere dar pe sanam” from Phir Teri Kahaani Yaad Ayee, etc. Sadhna Sargam also won national award for the song “pattu soli” from the film Azhagi. Vinod Rathore and Sadhna Sargam appreciated the performances of all the participants. The singers in the show sang the songs of Vinod Rathore and Sadhna Sargam. Under the request of Jishu Sengupta, the anchor and the participants Vinod Rathore and Kumar Shanu sang the song “jab koi baat bigar jaaye”. Everyone appreciated it including the other judge Joy Sarkar.

Kavita Krishnamurthy stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program.


Singer Kavita Krishnamurthy stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program on 13th November, 2012. She was invited as guest judge in the program. On the day of Kalipuja, Alka Yagnik was not present. Joy Sarkar and Kumar Shanu were present in the program. Jishu Sengupta, the anchor of the program asked Kavita Krishnamurthy about her association with Manna Dey. Kavita Krishnamurthy gave an extended description about the relationship of Manna Dey with her. She was introduced to him by Hemanta Mukherjee. And way back in 1970s she interacted with Manna Dey. After that whenever she went for international tours in majority of programs she shared the same stage with that of Manna Dey. Kavita Krishnamurthy had a great classical background and she glorified bollywood music with her versatile singing. She sang the song “aankho ki gustaqiyan” with Kumar Shanu in the show which was composed by Ismail Darbar in the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Arpita Pal from Chattisgarh sang Kavita Krishnamurthy’s song from the film Devdas. Kavita Krishnamurthy was moved at her performance. She said how could Arpita manage such a difficult song. Jishu Sengupta asked Arpita Pal about the platform of Saregamapa which made her a star. She said that she had sung many songs of Geetasri Sandhya Mukherjee. So visitors who travelled by bus or train with Arpita Pal said they were big admirers of Sandhya Mukherjee and blessed her for choosing Sandhya Mukherjee songs in the Zee Saregamapa Program. The participants and the judges were amazed at the humbleness of Kavita Krishnamurthy. She had sung legendary songs like “aaj mai upar” in the film Khamoshi, “pyar hua chupke se”, “hawa hawai” in the film Mr. India. She won a number of filmfare awards and national awards. She deserved even more. From the 1980s to 2000, it was the domination of Kavita Krishnamurthy, Alka Yagnik and Anuradha Paudwal in bollywood films. They enriched bollywood music with their everlasting voices.

Singer Anwesha and Surajit Chatterjee stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program on Austami and Nabami.


Surojit Chatterjee. Singer Anwesha and Surajit Chatterjee stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program on Austami and Nabami. Surajit Chatterjee sang his song from his new album of Band Bhoomi that was released in Durgapuja in 2012. Anwesha also sang her song from the puja album of 2012. Jishu Sengupta, the anchor of the program organized everyone and did a Durgapuja in the studio of Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program. All the contestants including Samayan Sarkar, Arpita Pal, Shovan Ganguly and the judges Kumar Shanu, Alka Yagnik and Joy Sarkar participated in the puja. On the day of Mahaaustami khichuri was served in the sets of Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program. According to the rituals on the day of Mahaaustami, the devotees are expected to have only khichuri bhog which is served to Goddess Durga. While the competitive singing continued in the sets of the Zee Saregamapa Program, the events relating to Durga puja also continued. Both Surajit Chatterjee and Anwesha encouraged the young singers.

Monali Thakur stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program.


Monali Thakur Singer Monali Thakur stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program on 16th November, 2012. She was invited in the show by Jishu Sengupta as guest judge. When she came at the beginning she was asked to sing the song “zara zara kiss me kiss me kiss me” which was originally sung by Monali Thakur herself in bollywood film Race. The Jishu Sengupta said he was interested to do a durgapuja in the sets of Zee Bangla Saregamapa. He wanted to make Kumar Shanu the President of the Puja Committee and asked him to pay chanda for the puja. Kumar Shanu in a joking way said he will not be the President if Jishu Sengupta became the cashier. Then Monali Thakur was made the cashier. One of the contestants sang Lata’s song “nishi din nishi din” in her own way. Monali Thakur said the dynamics of singing was missing in the song. Another contestant came and sang Manna Dey’s song “Lolita, oke aaj chole jete bolna”. Although Kumar Shanu, Alka Yagnik appreciated the singing, Monali Thakur said that variation was required in the antara. Another contestant sang Kishore Kumar’s song “dekha na hayre socha na” which he sang in the film Bombay to Goa. The contestant gave a spirited performance but Kumar Shanu said in one line he could sing softly then in the other line he could sing forcefully. Then only the viewers would have been impressed. Jishu Sengupta anchored the program with a lot of wit.

Haimanti Shukla stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program.
Bengali singer Haimanti Shukla stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program on 15th August, 2012, on the day of Mahalaya. Jishu Sengupta, the anchor told the audience that he used to call Haimanti Shukla Haimanti Pishi. Jishu Sengupta asked Haimanti Shukla to sing a song. She sang it. Then she was asked about the experience of Mahishashur Mordini played in All India Radio on the day of Mahalaya every year. She said that it became a cult for the entire group of bengalies. Most of the bengalies always listened to Mohishashur Mordini at 4 am early in the morning every year. Haimanti Shukla gave good tips to the young singers. Samayan Sarkar was told to concentrate on the song when he was dancing and performing. He sang the song “dekha jo tujhe yaar dil me baji guitar” where he showed his performance skills. Jishu Sengupta sang the song himself too. One of the contestant sang Hemanta Mukherjee's song "o akash sona sona". Kumar Shanu, Alka Yagnik and Joy Sarkar also gave their best inputs on the day of Mahalaya. All the singers did a great job.

Shaan and Alka Yagnik stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program.


Alka Yagnik. Singers Shaan and Alka Yagnik stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program on 27th August, 2012. Kumar Shanu brought both the singers to the show. Jishu Sengupta was amazed to receive them. Alka Yagnik was one of the judges of the program few weeks back. She used to adjudicate the performances of the contestants along with Kumar Shanu and Joy Sarkar. But for last 2 weeks she was not present. Kumar Shanu and Joy Sarkar were the other two judges who stayed in the show from long time. At the first part of the show Shaan and the other singers in the contest gave tribute to Kumar Shanu. They sang all the hit songs of Kumar Shanu that made him popular. Some of the successful songs included “sansonki zarurat hai jaise” in film Ashiqi, “tujhe dekh mera dil dharka” in film Phool Aur Kante, “mera dil bhi kitna paagal hai” in film Saajan, “kuch na kaho” in film 1942 A Love Story, to name a few. Then the contestants sang their own songs. One of the girl contestant sang the song “solah baraski” from the film Ek Duje Ke Liye which was originally sung by Lata Mangeshkar. The song was composed by Laxmikant Pyarellal. Alka Yagnik showed some areas where the artist could have done differently. Joy Sarkar, Kumar Shanu and Shaan appreciated the song. Jishu Sengupta anchored the program in style.

Usha Utthup stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program.


Usha Utthup Singer Usha Utthup stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program on 22nd August, 2012. She came, saw and conquered. She was invited to be the guest judge along with the regular judges Kumar Shanu and Joy Sarkar. Jishu Sengupta anchored the program. Usha Utthup sang the “kolavari, kolavari” song. She showed her command over all the languages. She had sung songs in different languages hindi, Bengali, English, South Indian, etc. Jishu Sengupta sang the songs with Usha Utthup on the stage. Kumar Shanu, Sadhna Sargam and Joy Sarkar also welcomed her. Last year Usha Utthup won a number of awards for the song “ankhon se ankhe char karne do” from the film Saat Khoon Maaf. The performers performed before the group of judges. One of the participants sung Mohammad Rafi’s song “parda hai parda”. The song was a qawalli of the film Amar Akbar Anthony. It was picturized on Rishi Kapoor and the music was composed by Laxmikant Pyarellal. Usha Utthup appreciated the performance of the performer. She said the song was difficult to sing and the participant did well. Zee Bangla Saregamapa had gained popularity. Last week Hariharan and Sadhna Sargam stormed the show. This time it was the turn of Usha Utthup.

Sadhna Sargam Singers Sadhna Sargam and Hariharan stormed Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program on 13th August, 2012. At the beginning of the show singers Shobhan Ganguly and other singers gave tribute to the superstars of the past who had died recently. They gave tribute to Shammi Kapoor, Dev Anand and Rajesh Khanna. Kumar Shanu and Joydeep Sarkar were the other 2 judges. It was an excellent show. Hariharan said that he did not see the number of musical instruments used in this show if compared with any other show. He was spellbound. The songs that were sung at the beginning of the show included “jiya ho jiya ho jiya kuch bol do”, “zindagi ek safar hai suhana”, “yahoo chahe koi mujhe jungle kahen”. After hearing the songs Kumar Shanu used to say fatafati. Sadhna Sargam also appreciated the contestants to a big extent. There was a needy contestant who was a young girl who fed her family from early age by singing. Her relatives came to the show. The anchor Jishu Sengupta appreciated the effort of the contestant. Hariharan and Sadhna Sargam had visited the program for the last few days. They will also stay during Independence day also.

Kumar Shanu donated Rs 1 lakh to participant in Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program.


Kumar Shanu. Singer Kumar Shanu donated Rs 1 lakh to a participant who performed in Zee Bangla Saregamapa Program on Monday, 6th August, 2012. Kumar Shanu, Joy Sarkar and Alka Yagnik were the 3 judges who analyzed the performance of the participants from the beginning of the show. Actor Jishu Sengupta anchored the program. One of the girl participants sung a song. After that when Jishu Sengupta asked her whether anyone had come with her, she said her parents left her at an early age. She was an infant when her parents left her. Her uncle and aunt reared her up. After she reached her age of 8 years, she stopped studying because she did not have the economic capacity to study. Her aunt and uncle did not marry in their lives and sacrificed their lives for the girl. When Kumar Shanu heard all this, he said he sacrificed his salary given by Zee Bangla and gave Rs 1 lakh from his account for studies and singing career of the girl. He even told her that whenever the money got over, the girl should contact Kumar Shanu again for the money. The charitable pursuit of Kumar Shanu astonished the other judges and the anchor Jishu Sengupta. Many people have money. But celebrities like Kumar Shanu also have a big heart. The elimination rounds started in Zee Bangla Saregamapa program. Participants are providing their best performances to stay in the competition. Alka Yagnik, Kumar Shanu and Joy Sarkar are doing a great job.
