The viewers of bollywood films wish happy birthday to Mamta Kulkarni on 20th April, 2010. She played very significant roles in the films of 90s. She was given prominent roles in successful bollywood films during that period.

Rakesh Roshan gave a significant role to Mamta Kulkarni in the film Karan Arjun. She was the wife of Salman Khan in the film. Both Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan were shown to have two lives. In their first lives they were tortured and killed by Amrish Puri. In their second life they were born at other places but came to Rajasthan to stop the illegal activities of Amrish Puri and his men. Mamta Kulkarni and Kajol contributed with their respective roles along with Rakhee, who had the prominent part in the film. Although the film was related to superstitious beliefs, Rakesh Roshan succeeded in entertaining the audience and the film ended up being big hit.

Mamta Kulkarni got the role of her lifetime in Raj Kumar Santoshi’s film China Gate. She was the relative of Om Puri who called him up to rescue the villagers from the rule of dacoits in the region. Om Puri was a retired major, who left the armed forces after one of their missions failed. Om Puri called all his friends who worked in the last mission, including Amrish Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Danny, Tinu Anand, Jagdeep , etc., and formed a team to combat the dacoits. Mamta Kulkarni kept the retired military officers in her house and provided them food and amenities during their stay. The police office in that jurisdiction Paresh Rawal conspired with the dacoits and betrayed the military officers. But ultimately the military officers under the leadership of Om Puri succeeded in killing the dacoits and bringing peace within the village. The film was off-beat in nature and Mamta Kulkarni showed her acting skills in the film.

Her other successful films also included Krantiveer, where she acted opposite Atul Agnihotri. Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia had the main roles in the action film, but Mamta Kulkarni showed her frustration after she came to know about her father being involved in the gang of lawbreakers who were responsible for riots and other destructive activities. The film was related to corruption existing in society which included the police officers, judges, the executive and politicians.
After the late-90s all of sudden Mamta Kulkarni left bollywood films. Viewer remember her both in glamourous and non-glamourous roles. Now that she had attained age, she can contribute in character roles. The viewers expect her to make a comeback in recent bollywood films and entertain the viewers once again just like the way she entertained the viewers in the films of the 90s

The viewers of bollywood films wish happy birthday to Meenakshi Sheshadri on 16th November, 2009. She had been one of the leading actresses of bollywood films of the 80s.

She started her career in Subhash Ghai’s film Hero. Meenakshi acted opposite Jackie Shroff in the film who also started his career with the film Hero. After that Meenakshi acted opposite all the leading actors of bollywood films. She was very successful in the film Meri Jung opposite Anil Kapoor. In that film Anil Kapoor contested against Amrish Puri in a keenly contested case.

Meenakshi was successful opposite Big B in the film Shahenshah. Big B played the role of a police officer who did his duty during the day and attached criminals at night with the name of Shahenshah. Meenakshi acted in successful of Raj Kumar Santoshi one after the other.

She was at her best in the film Damini. In that film she had seen a girl being raped. When she went and testified before the court about the happening she was considered to be an insane person. But she did not care about the allegation and testified before the court about the happening. Sunny Deol and Rishi Kapoor also did extremely well in the film opposite her.

Sunny Deol and Meenakshi formed a deadly combination especially in the films of Raj Kumar Santoshi. Their other hit films included Ghayal and Ghatak which did fantastic business. In Ghayal Meenakshi played the role of a dare devil character, the journalist who did not fear to write the truth related to a corrupted businessman played by Amrish Puri. Sunny Deol was falsely implicated in a case and fled from the jail to kill Amrish Puri. Meenakshi also acted opposite other actors like Vinod Khanna.

Meenakshi also acted in South Indian films. She left films at a time when she was very matured. The viewers expect her to make a comeback in character roles in future.

The viewers of bollywood films wonder whether Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani will storm bollywood films or not. On one hand this is one of the big releases of Ranbir Kapoor who has a challenge of carrying the great legacy of Raj Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor forward. It is also a big challenge of Katrina Kaif who had just given hits after hits in the last year.

Raj Kumar Santoshi had come up with a comedy story. Whenever the viewers had thought about Raj Kumar Santoshi they had always thought about action films like Gadar or Damini or Pukar. They also had thought about romantic stories.

But in this film Raj Kumar Santoshi had made Ranbir Kapoor play the role of a depressed lover boy who had crossed all the roads possible to reach his mission which was the affair with Katrina Kaif. The love story was full of crazyness of Ranbir Kapoor towards Katrina Kaif.

The other actors and actresses who had contributed in the film included Darshan Jariwala, Asrani, Salman Khan in a special appearance, Govind Namdeo, Smita Jaykar, Navneet Nishan and others. Most of the performers had given their natural performance.

The music of the film was composed by Pritam. The songs will be impressive. Ranbir Kapoor’s image of lover boy that he carried forward from Sawaariya to Bacchna Aye Haseeno will continue in Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani.

The viewers expect the film to rock the theatres in Diwali. The other reason the teenagers are interested is because newcomers like Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan can create competition for seasoned stars like Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar and others who had been ruling the industry for the last 15 years. The film has all the ingredients of becoming hit.

During the last 20 years, Raj Kumar Santoshi had entertained the viewers with his action films which best on anti-establishment themes. The viewers had identified themselves with the unfair practices that took place which were shown in the films.

In Ghayal, Raj Kumar Santoshi had used Sunny Deol to protest against the oppression of Amrish Puri in the film. Amrish Puri had used the industry, the police force, the ministry and all the influential people in the film to plant false cases against Sunny and get him imprisoned after killing Raj Babbar. Sunny got out of prison, took the help of three other prisoners and destroyed the unlawful business establishments of Amrish Puri. While taking revenge against him, he also attracted the attention of Om Puri, an honest police officer that the police force was also responsible for making Amrish Puri a tyrant.


Similarly in Ghatak, Sunny came from Benaras and raised voice against the mafias working in Mumbai who had dominated over shopkeepers and other businessmen in the area. His father Amrish Puri who was suffering from Cancer was ill-treated by Danny, the leader of the gang, and Sunny fought against the entire gang alone. Meenakshi had ably supported him in his fight against evil.

Also in Damini, it was shown that a middle-class witness faces huge amount of obstacles while giving testimony about what the person had witnessed before a court of law. Meenakshi saw the bodily assault of her servant in the house, but when she went to give her testimony, the entire family of her inlaws stopped her, even proved her to be insane. Only the lawyer played by Sunny and her husband Rishi Kapoor, had the courage to disclose the truth and see that the criminals are punished.


He also showed the struggle of Anil Kapoor in Pukar, where he was a military officer who faced court martial for the false allegations against him which were planted by Madhuri Dixit. Eventually he unearthed the terrorist activity of Danny who wanted to kill huge number of people in a banquet hall, which he stopped at the end of the people. Even China Gate was successful, showing the fight of retired military officers against a group of dacoits who became notorious due to corruption of local police. Om Puri, Nasiruddin Shah, Amrish Puri, Paresh Rawal, all did well in the film. The viewers expect similar types of films from Raj Kumar Santoshi in the years to come.
