Deboshree Roy stormed Zee Bangla Happy Parents Day program.


Deboshree Roy stormed Zee Bangla Happy Parents Day program. On 16th April, 2015, renowned Bengali actress and MLA Deboshree Roy was invited in the show Zee Bangla Happy Parents Day along with her mother and sisters. The scheme of the program is related to answering relevant questions. Based on the answers the contestants are given prizes which are related to the wishes for the parents. Deboshree Roy placed very elementary wishes. She wished a Mobile Phone for her mother. She wished some funding for her Charitable Association which are catered to building old age homes and caring for the animals including dogs. She wished for funding for ayurvedic treatment of her mother. Mr Halder, the anchor of the program asked different questions to Deboshree Roy. Deboshree said that from childhood she and her sisters were able dancers and performed in many jalshas in Kolkata. Her mother used to take them. She said her sister was mischievous during childhood. One day she kept the shoes of her home tutor away. He could not find the shoes. She talked also about her other sister Krishna Mukherjee, the mother of Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee. She asked one question using the helpline with Krishna Mukherjee. It was related to a clipping shown asking for the name of the festival. Krishna Mukherjee said it was called Buri Parwa in Marathi. Deboshree Roy informed everyone about Krishna Mukherjee. She said Krishna Mukherjee was a successful singer and she sang duet songs with Mohammad Rafi in international shows in the 1970s. Deboshree Roy also said that her mother learned singing from Shyamal Mitra. She said her mother liked Bengali films a lot. She used to take money from her father to attend the matinee shows of Bengali films of the golden age. A question was asked about the ingredients of cooking Hilsa or Ilish. Deboshree Roy gave the right answer in respect of the spices given including posto or poppy seeds, mustard oil, salt, turmeric, etc. Deboshree gave all correct answers and all her wishes were fulfilled. Debshankar Halder anchored the program extremely well.

Deboshree Roy stormed Zee Bangla Dance Bangla Dance Program.


Deboshree Roy had stormed Zee Bangla Dance Bangla Dance Program. On 20th March, 2014, Deb, better known as Deepak Adhikari invited Bengali superstar Deboshree Roy in the program Zee Bangla Dance Bangla Dance. Deboshree Roy had been known for her excellent dancing skills over the years. On the request of Deb she danced in her famous song “ami kolkatar roshogolla”. Everyone in the show including the judges Nusrat Jahan, Jogesh Patkar and Malabika Sen appreciated the great performance of Deboshree Roy. Even the anchor Vicky stood up and gave standing gratitude. Deb asked Deboshree Roy what was the change she found in respect of music and dance in Bengali films in the 1980s and the present period. She said during her times dance was related to a lot of expression. There were different art forms expressed by dance movements. The music of Bengali films was richer in those days with a lot of melody. That is missing these days. There had been one improvement. In her times shooting used to take place in Mumbai. On the other hand today majority of shooting is done abroad in exotic locations of Thailand, Malaysia, Italy and many other countries. But the music is too loud. Deb asked her who is her favourite actress of present period? She said she liked everyone. She also said that as she is anchoring Zee Bangla Didi No. 1 Program for a long time, whenever the child contestants in her program are asked about their favourite actor all of them take the name of Deb. Deb also asked her to sing a song knowing that she is also a good singer. She sang her song from the film Bhalobasha Bhalobasha. The song was titled “joto bhabna chilo, joto swopno chilo sob dilam tomay ami dilam tomay”. It was a Tarun Majumdar film with Deboshree Roy in the lead cast opposite Tapas Pal. In the early 1980s, the film ended up being super hit. Majority of the contestants danced in the song numbers of films of Deboshree Roy. Deboshree Roy appreciated all of them and gave her best wishes to Deb for anchoring such a beautiful show.

Sriradha Banerjee, Srabonti Majumdar and others stormed Zee Bangla Didi No. 1 Program.


Sriradha Banerjee, Srabonti Majumdar and others stormed Zee Bangla Didi No. 1 Program. On 7th February, 2014, Deboshree Roy invited the eminent singers of the golden age to the Zee Bangla Didi No. 1 Program. The celebrities who were invited included Sriradha Banerjee, Srabonti Majumdar, Haimanti Shukla and Pratibha Mukherjee. Deboshree Roy asked Srabonti Majumdar about any notable experience. She was very famous during the 1970s. Her duet song with Hemanta Mukherjee titled “aye khuku aye” really created sensation. It was a song related to the loving relationship of a father with his daughter. Srabonti Majumdar also created sensation with her duet song with Sandhya Mukherjee titled “tumi aamar ma, ami tomar meye, bolo nako ki peyecho amay kache peye”. This song talked about the sweet relationship of a daughter with her mother. She was a great announcer and anchor of All India Radio during the 1970s. She said one of her fans from England wrote a letter congratulating her for brilliant announcements but never knew her address. So she posted the letter in the address of All India Radio. Deboshree Roy asked Sriradha Banerjee about her experiences. She said that her husband was a great cook. That was the reason she never learned any cooking. Once she went in a show where the audience were throwing cucumbers and tomatoes. She continued singing because the action of the audiences were not due to bad performance but enthusiasm of the audience. Haimanti Shukla talked about her experiences also. One fan of her was a fish-seller. She went to the fish market in Gariahat. The fan came to her car and did a pronam by touching her feet. It really touched her heart. All the singers sang their famous songs. Haimanti Shukla sang “emon shapno kokhono dekhini age”. Pratibha Mukherjee sang “kya karun sajni”. In the musical round, Antara Choudhury, the daughter of great composer Salil Choudhury asked musical questions to the legendary singers. She sang the song “rajanigandha”, “biswapita tumi he prabhu” and other songs. The giant singers replied her with their songs. At the end of the show, Sriradha Banerjee gave maximum correct answers and became Didi No. 1 and won all the prizes. Deboshree Roy paid huge amount of respect to the veteran singers.

Saswati Guhathakurta, Chaitali Dasgupta stormed Zee Bangla Didi No. 1 Program.
On 28th January, 2014, Deboshree Roy, the anchor of Zee Bangla Didi No. 1 Program called the news readers of popular Bengali channels. The celebrities who participated in the program included Saswati Guhathakurta, Chaitali Dasgupta, Indrani Bhattacharya and others. In the program Deboshree Roy asked Saswati Guhathakurta about her experience in anchoring different programs in Bengali Doordarshan from 1975, 76 onwards. She said it was a great experience. She said she herself and Chaitali Dasgupta used to anchor the programs during mid-70s and the viewers used to think that they were sisters. She said that she was interested in music also but due to news reading, anchoring the programs in Doordarshan bangla, her skill of music was left alone. She started acting in tele-serials from 1995. She also acted in the successful serial Kanakanjali in the role of the wife of Dulal Lahiri. Chaitali Dasgupta married renowned Bengali director Raja Dasgupta. Deboshree Roy asked her to share the experience of meeting Raja Dasgupta and how they married. She said that she knew dancing also. During childhood she was shy. Later on she had to do anchoring and she enjoyed the job. From 1995 onwards she started acting in television serials. Indrani Bhattacharya also disclosed her history of entering into Television programs. She stayed in Paris for 2 years. She learned music and sang well. In the second round Shymal Mitra’s son Saikat Mitra was invited to sing songs and ask the celebrities to sing songs on specific subjects. All the celebrities did a great job. Deboshree Roy anchored the program very well.

Deboshree Roy stormed Zee Bangla Didi No. 1 Season 5.


Deboshree Roy stormed Zee Bangla Didi No. 1, Season 5. Deboshree Roy is the new anchor of Zee Bangla Didi No. 1 Program, Season 5. Season 4 was anchored by Rachana Banerjee and she did a great job. The opening session took place on 17th November, 2013. Rachana Banerjee and Deboshree Roy, both were present in the program. Footballer Prashun Banerjee came with his wife and said that Rachana Banerjee had done a great job, and he had that believe that Deboshree Roy would do a better job. Magician PC Sarkar Junior and his wife were the guests of the show. Their youngest daughter Mumtaz Sorkar was one of the contestants of the show. The 4 participants of the show included Mumtaz Sorkar, Mimi, Subhashree and Tanushree. Babul Supriyo came in the show and asked the contestants to sing songs. Subhashree sang the song from the film Paran Jay Joliya Re. Tanushree, Mimi and Mumtaz Sorkar also sang songs. Jojo sang a song and asked Mumtaz Sorkar to dance opposite George Baker. Jeet Ganguly came and sang his super hit songs from the Bengali films. He had composed music in many super hit films and sang some of the hit songs like “dhaker tale komor dole”, “paran jay joliya re”, “bhojogourango”, to name a few. All the celebrities came and said that Deboshree Roy was their idols and they had great confidence on her. Mir Afsar Ali came with his band Bandage and sang the song “hoy to tomari jonyo” and dedicated it to the wife of PC Sirkar Junior. The show started with a bang. Everyone expects that Season 5 will be as good as season 4.

Madhumanti Maitra, Deboshree Roy and others stormed Zee Bangla Mirakkel Program.


Sourav Ganguly invited celebrities on 18th September, 2013. Bengali actress Deboshree Roy, actor Barun Chandra, Dulal Lahiri, Debika Mukherjee, newsreader Madhumanti Maitra and others. Sourav Ganguly asked Deboshree Roy about her new film Adhoba. She said that she is playing the lead role. The other artists in the film included Barun Chandra, Dulal Lahiri and others. Sourav Ganguly asked Deboshree Roy whether she had reduced acting in films after she became MLA from Trinamool Congress. She said she balanced the 3 things together, acting in films, her work as MLA and also the responsibilities in respect of social welfare. She also is an animal lover. She has a lot of dogs at home and takes care of them. Barun Chandra shared his experience of working with Oscar Winning director Satyajit Ray. He said Ray met him when Barun Chandra was working in an advertisement company. Ray came in contact with him and gave him a role in the film Sheemaboddhyo. The film was released in early 1970s. After that for 20 years Barun Chandra did not work in films. Then he joined films. Sourav Ganguly showed a clipping of the first hindi film of Deboshree Roy with Arun Govil and asked the question to Barun Chandra about the actor. He could not say it although he identified Deboshree Roy. Madhumanti Maitra gave the maximum number of answers and won the prize for the fastest 50 in the show. Deboshree Roy sang a song in the show. Madhumanti Maitra asked a googly question to Sourav Ganguly where she asked him to name a mountain where there was good fragrance. Sourav Ganguly said that Sourav meant good smell and Dadagiri had the word giri meaning mountain. Everyone clapped at Sourav Ganguly’s ready intelligence. He anchored the program very well and gave due respect to all the celebrities in the show.
