Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan did business of 100 crores in 3 days. Salman Khan’s new film Bajrangi Bhaijaan released on 17th July, 2015, did business of more than 32 crores on the first day. The film has excellent humanitarian message. The film had been directed by Kabir Khan who had previously directed Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger few years back. Salman Khan and Rockline Venkatesh produced the film. The music had been composed by Pritam. The film is all about a little girl played by Harshali Malhotra who got lost in India. She belonged to a hilly district of Pakistan. Salman Khan met her in Delhi but as she was dumb he could not make out her place of residence. He kept her in the house of Kareena Kapoor and her father Sharat Saxena. Sharat Saxena incidentally gave Salman place to stay when his father died some time back. After that Salman Khan entered Pakistan without Passport and Visa. He was a devotee of Hanumanji. So told the truth that he entered underneath the fencing in the deserts between India and Pakistan. He got beaten up by the Pakistani police. He got help from a Pakistani journalist played by Nawazuddin Siddique and Om Puri, a religious person. Ultimately he could reach Munni or Shahida, the child to her parents in Pakistan in Sultanpur district. The child at the end spoke out. The film gave the message that nature shares all the assets in both India and Pakistan. Human love and affection could have softened the relationship between the human beings of both the countries. It is the law enforcers and policy makers who had stemmed hatred between the two country men. Salman Khan played his role in an outstanding way. His innocence and human feeling touched everyone. Kareena Kapoor and Sharat Saxena were brilliant in their roles. Om Puri did a cameo in his short role. Nawazuddin was again brilliant and very different from his villainish roles. The music of Pritam was outstanding. Atif Aslam’s song “tu chahiye”, Adnan Sami’s qawalli “bhar do jholi meri”, Mohit Chauhan and Palak Mucchal’s song “chicken” and Javed Ali’s song “tu jo mila” touched everyone. Salman Khan in the past had shown that he was the badshaah of eid. Bajarangi Bhaijaan started with a bang. The film will do business of more than 200 crores.

Director Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal 3 is more hilarious than Golmaal 1 and 2. The film had been shot in Goa. In the film Mithun Chakravarty and his sons were involved in scams involving fake history question papers.

When Mithun Chakravarty reprimanded them for selling fake question papers to students, Arshad Warsi said that he was going to teach the students never to take short cuts. His other two brothers namely Tushar Kapoor and Kunal Khemu helped him in executing the scam.

Within short distance, brothers Ajay Devgan and Shreyas Talpade with friend Kareena Kapoor ran a water-rides business. They clashed with Arshad Warsi and men when they did the same business on the beach.

The characteristics of Ajay Devgan, Tushar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi and Shreyas Talpade, part of the team of Golmaal returns were retained. Some fresh characteristics were also created in this film. Kareena Kapoor hurled abused at frequent intervals in the film. Shreyas Talpade stammered in the film. Tushar Kapoor continued his language ‘a-i-o’.

Johnny Lever did well in his role of a patient of lost memory. Sometimes he at one point he thought he was a thief, at other time he thought Ajay Devgan was a bus conductor. Mithun Chakravarty did his part very well. The other actors and actresses including Arshad Warsi, Ajay Devgan, Sheyas Talpade and Kareena Kapoor had played comedy roles in tandom at one time. So the performance in this film is not that challenging for them.

Pritam’s music was fine with impressive songs like “apna har din” sung by Anushka Manchanda and Shaan, “desi kaali” sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Neeraj Shreedhar. All the films directed by Rohit Shetty relating to Golmaal series did great business. Golmaal 3 is also expected to do better business with the star cast and powerful performances.

Kareena Kapoor said she likes Katrina Kaif in a recent interview. There was a pre-concept in the minds of the viewers that as one is the rival of the other there is cold war between the two. But Kareena’s statement does not show that.

Kareena Kapoor is more senior than Katrina Kaif in bollywood films. Her first film released in 2000 titled Refugee had given her a separate prestige in bollywood industry. From that time she had worked in different films and showed her metal. After giving a number of hits including Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai she entered into a rough patch for some time when her good performances also did not result in the cash counters of cinema halls ringing. After release of the film Chameli, which was critically acclaimed she again regained box-office.

In the last 2 years two of her films did great business including Jab We Met and The Three Idiots. So obviously she is still there in the bollywood rat race at the same pedestal where Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra are there.

Katrina Kaif on the other hand had started acting almost 4 years later than her. She is younger too. But her luck was great in respect of her films. From the beginning of her career, inspite of her accent having English origin, her films did great business. Right from Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya, to Namaste London, to Race, to Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani, she had been the most successful actress for the last 4 years.

Viewers generally think that rivals never have good relations and there was gossip about ego-clash between the two successful actresses Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor. But Kareena Kapoor’s statements negated that. Viewers feel that it would best for the bollywood industry, that Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif face each other in films in future and do well.

Kareena Kapoor, the fourth generation of the Kapoor family, had to face a lot of competition for establishing herself in bollywood. Firstly, her grandfather Raj Kapoor, was not alive, when she started her career, otherwise films made under the RK Banner had helped the actors of the Kapoor family to make a successful beginning in the film arena. For example, Rishi Kapoor got a classic break in Bobby, Rajeev Kapoor had made a successful beginning in Ram Teri Ganga Maili, both directed and produced by Raj Kapoor.

Kareena Kapoor had started her career with the film Refugee. It involved a story relating to cross-border romantic affair. The story presented by JP Dutta, depicted the strange impact of partition of a country into two separate dominions and the consequences of the border. Her affair with Tushar Kapoor and over all performance in the film was well appreciated by the film lovers. She had done well in crime thrillers like Ajnabee opposite Bobby Deol, where Akshay Kumar and Bipasha Basu had acted in a negative role.


During the last few years Kareena Kapoor had acted in experimental roles, like the role of a tawaif in Chameli. She had adopted the choreographic skills and other requirements of the successful actresses of the present times to sustain in bollywood. Her performances opposite Shahid Kapoor in a number of films were liked by the audience. She had also performed in historical films like Ashoka opposite Sharukh Khan.

Critics point out that these days it is difficult to get good script, but if Kareena Kapoor gets a decent script she can act well. Let us hope that she will do well in the films that are going to released in future.
