Kajol – the effortless actress of bollywood
Kajol is one of the most effortless actress of bollywood films who had made significant contribution in the films of 90s. She acted in different types of films and showed people that acting is not that difficult.
Being the daughter of Tanuja and being relative of Nutan, she had acting in her blood. She played the role of daughter of an affluent family in the film Baazigar, opposite Shahrukh Khan. It was also the beginning of journey of Shahrukh Khan, who later became a very popular star of bollywood. In Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, she acted as an immature girl who liked to fight with her friends, including Shahrukh Khan, as one of the friend. All of a sudden Rani Mukherjee came and joined her college and brought a change in her life. An arranged marriage was fixed for her with Salman Khan. At the end of the film, Shahrukh Khan entered the marriage party with his daughter and brought in memories of the past. The music in the film was very popular including songs like “tum pass aye”, “koi mil gaya”, etc., and strong direction of Karan Johar made the film a landmark film.
Kajol had acted in negative characters also, including the character of the criminal in the film Gupt, opposite Bobby Deol. She had a mental problem, that whenever she did not get what she wanted, she took the crude path of killing the persons who came in the way. She killed Raj Babbar, Kulbhushan and other persons who either prevented her from marrying Bobby Deol, or came to know about her crime. The truth was unearthed at the end of the film, when she tried to kill Manisha Koirala who also loved Bobby Deol. She also received the filmfare best actress award in a negative role for the performance in the film.
She also acted in romantic characters opposite her husband Ajay Devgan, in films like Isqh, where Amir Khan and Juhi Chawla were the other pair. The film involved comedy instances and had the story of a rich father wanting to marry her daughter to the type of person he wanted. The songs in the film like “isq hua, kaise hua”, were very successful. Her other notable films include Karan Arjun, directed by Rakesh Roshan, Pyar to Hona hi tha, etc.
After giving everlasting hits like Dilwale Dulhania le jayege, opposite Shahrukh Khan, and Kabhi Khishi Kabhi Gham, with Shahrukh, Hrithik Roshan, Jaya Bacchan, Big B, Kareena Kapoor, all of a sudden she stopped acting. But when she returned back to films, her performance in Fanaa, opposite Amir Khan was well appreciated by the viewers. She has a lot of acting potentiality left in her and can be expected to perform even better in the years to come.
