Amir Khan and Juhi Chawla.
Amir Khan and Juhi Chawla performed together in a number of films and were accepted by the Indian audience as a romantic pair. They started their journey with film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak in 1988.
The film involved a romantic relationship between teenagers who had to face a number of social obstacles. The songs composed by Anand Milind in the film played a big role in the success of the film including songs like “akele hai”, “papa kehte hai bara naam karega” sung by Udit Narayan and others.
The same pair again featured in the film Ishq, where Kajol and Ajay Devgan were the other performers. The film was based on the story of a rich father played by Sadashiv Amrapurkar who hated poor people. But Ajay Devgan, his son entered into an affair with Kajol, who came from a middle-class family. In case of Amir and Juhi initially they were involved in a number of quarrels as they visited Ooty and the differences transpired into love at the end of the film. The songs in the film “ishq hua, kaise hua”, etc., became very very successful. Also the action sequence in the film caught the attraction of the crowd.
Amir and Juhi were also successful in the film Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke. It involved the romantic relationship between them and the story of rearing up of a number of children who stayed with them. The songs in the film like “ghunghar ke aar pe dil barkha” became very very successful.
From the mid-90s, Amir reduced his performance in the major number of films and he performed in only selective roles. Juhi reduced her performance and sometimes featured in character roles. The viewers still expect the pair to perform together in more films in the years to come.
