Rajender Kumar and Raj Kumar were outstanding in the film Dil Ek Mandir.

Rajender Kumar and Raj Kumar were outstanding in the film Dil Ek Mandir. Dil Ek Mandir was a super hit film released in 1963. It was directed by C.V. Sridhar. It was a remake of Tamil film Nenjil Ore Alayam which was released in 1962. It was produced by Chitralaya.
Rajender Kumar, Meena Kumari. In Dil Ek Mandir, Raj Kumar, Rajender Kumar and Meena Kumari played the major roles. Rajender Kumar loved Meena Kumari. When he went abroad for higher studies relating to medical profession, Meena Kumari’s father faced criminal charges in relation to theft in bank. Raj Kumar’s father paid the money to save Meena Kumari’s father. In return he gave marriage of Raj Kumar with Meena Kumari. Raj Kumar’s father knew that Raj Kumar had cancer. But Raj Kumar never knew. Raj Kumar was treated by Rajender Kumar in respect of cancer. Although he could not save a young girl also suffering from cancer, his operation relating to lung cancer of Raj Kumar was successful. But for helping the cause of Raj Kumar, Rajender Kumar himself died at the end of the film. Excellent performances of Raj Kumar, Rajender Kumar and Meena Kumari made the audience spellbound. Raj Kumar received filmfare award for best supporting actor. Both Rajender Kumar and Meena Kumari deserved the best actor and actress awards which they did not get. The other aspect of the film which made viewers spellbound was the excellent music of Shankar Jaikishan. All the songs composed by SJ touched the souls of numerous Indians including “juhi ki kali meri laadli” sung by Suman Kalyanpur, “yaad na jaye”, “jahan koi nahi” sung by Mohammad Rafi, “ruk ja raat”, “hum tere pyar me sara alam” sung by Lata, to mention a few. Rafi and Suman’s duet song “dil ek mandir hai” brought tears in the eyes of numerous Indians. Shankar Jaikishan deserved the best composer award for the film Dil Ek Mandir. It went to Roshanlal Nagrath for his excellent composition in the film Tajmahal in 1963. Viewers should watch the film.
